If you're looking for something unique to see in Mexico, you may want to check out the Escaramuza Charra. Rich in history, culture and color, this is a sure sight when visiting Xcaret.

Escaramuza Charra is a Mexican sport consisting of ladies in big beautiful dresses riding horses. There is a lot more to it than a group of women on horseback though.

These women have trained their horses to dance to the rhythms of traditional Mexican music. There are regulations that need to be followed when dressing in an Escaramuza outfit, and all the women on the team need to be dressed exactly alike.

The sport represents the time in history during the beginning of the revolution when women were able to stand at the front of battle in their traditional dress. This performance is a great experience for you to learn a bit of the history and culture of Mexico.
